The Moonlighters of Raleigh, North Carolina are a premier big band wedding dance band with a broad repertoire of music including swing, foxtrots, waltzes and all latin tempos. In addition, the band has an impressive library of beach/shag, soft rock and country music arrangements.
The Moonlighter's Big Band has performed at the beautiful Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC for their annual Big Band Extravaganza Weekend, the Biltmore Estate also in Asheville and Green's Supper Club and Oyster Bar (a big band landmark in Greensboro, NC). The band is a country club and special events favorite in Virginia and the Carolinas playing for club dances, wedding receptions, conventions and fund raisers. They have performed for conventions at black tie dinner dances for the United States Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association in Winston Salem, NC and for the NC Telecommunication Association in Pinehurst, NC. Most recently they performed at Roaring 2000, a gala fund raiser for the American Cancer Society sponsored by the Red Sword Guild at the Raleigh Civic Center.
The size of the Moonlighters Band can be customized for your special event from trios to a 17 piece big band. The Sextet is probably the most widely booked small band for ballroom dance clubs in the Triangle. Regardless of their size, they deliver a refreshing musical program. Their smooth blend of brass, woodwinds and percussion appeals to all age groups who like to dance or listen.
Most of the members of the Moonlighter's have college degrees in music with outstanding credentials. A brief musical biography of each band member is included on this web page. In addition to their reputation as a band of distinction, when in concert, the Moonlighters can really swing. They have delighted huge audiences of college students with an entire evening of east and west coast swing in the style of Miller, Goodman, Dorsey, Ellington and Basie.
